I came back from Italy feeling a little unwell and proceeded to languish about (in the manner of a Puccini (or SMeyer) heroine). Which has led to my hd_hols fic being late (in the manner of a contemporary Italian train). Happily, the mods are kind (in the manner of Enid Blyton mothers).  Unhappily, I have lost my mind (in the manner of someone striding through San Francisco declaring they are Napoleon).

Last night's writing saw me spend half an hour trying to remember the name of a brand of watch (then changed my mind about including it), twenty minutes unable to recall how to spell the word perambulate (since edited out), and then I had to dig out a map to work out the broom flying times from London to Brighton (whole scene since deleted).

I grew up in East Sussex and London, am an editor, and once worked on a specialist horology magazine. If you don't hear from me for the next week or so, it's because I am poring through books trying to recall the name of that red-haired wizard who's good friends with the dark-haired one, whatsisface.

The mods are very, very kind. And dead sexy.

What is with the creativity drain this year? Everyone is struggling. I had to wrestle my hols fic into submission (I only partially succeeded *sigh*) and now my llnm fic (for alaana_fair who is also very, very kind and dead sexy) is kicking my ass. It just will not be written! I wrote 8 fest fics this year. Next year I'm doing 1 or 2 tops. It's too much. I love festing - it's so fun!! - but I think I need more breathing room to do anything decent. Besides 2009 is reserved for finishing CDT, dammit!

Also, YOU! You and your musical fic! I've had send in the clowns stuck in my head since you posted and you know, I don't like that song very much!

It's nice to see you posting, though - I've missed you, bb!!

I think Worldcup sucked out my will to live, or at least write. While I enjoyed Darkfest and the first AS/S fest, I should probably have said no to fests back in March. But yeah, next year is for me, baby. And you ...

Hee! A little Sondheim never hurt. I have had very bad longer versions of the songs playing and occasionally being sung to the cats. Be grateful you live in Canada! And fingers crossed normal service will resume shortly.
