Having been cornered by wallabies and pademelons while tramping in Tasmania, I find this story makes sense of a few events!

I was menaced for sandwiches and fruit. I held out for as long as I could, but was forced to hand a few apples over because they outnumbered me.

*hugs back*

Lucky to an extent ... I didn't think they would actively fang me, though you can never be sure with marsupials. Wombats, for instance, are scary!

Yes it is. I've heard the reason that they're called Tasmania Devils is that when they mate it sounds like something from the bowels of hell it this true. But they are sooo cute though

Sort of cute ... Like mad little dogs that can gnaw your arm off ... And yes, that is an accurate description of the sound. If you die in part of the Tassie bush that still has devils, they will eat everything save the belt buckles. So hikers are advised to wear distinctive buckles ...

Like mad little dogs that can gnaw your arm off LOL

So hikers are advised to wear distinctive buckles it's funny in a way but in a way it's not. Tenacious lil' things aren't they

Perhaps opiate poisoning might explain why so many still claim to see the Tasmanian tiger still extant in those parts. It's living that close to the pole that does it.

And the lack of an ozone layer. I've tramped through 1/4 of the state and you can feel the water being sucked from your brain even with a hat and a good supply of H2O.

Tasmania is so weird that even Australians call it odd, and they would know! (And I love your green fairy.)

The funny thing is I've been to Great Adventure Safari where they have acres to hop around on and I can so see this happening

They are very sweet, if quite mad ...

Right, well, if you're all finished laughing at my home state, I shall tell you that the poppies we grow down here are full of thebaine, which when ingested produces an effect similar to strychnine, and that all the wallabies you're giggling about were probably dying painful deaths while wandering around in amusing circles.
*goes back to popping children's balloons*
