Of on the epic journey from the anitpodes to the podes tomorrow, but I have just been struck by something.

For anyone seeking to understand how living in modern Australia is increasingly a productive balance between the West and the Orient, I have just waxed my Barbour jacket and ironed my furoshiki.

In my only disturbing travel news, I have been to four shops and been unable to source bags of Violet Crumble! WOE!

If you were waxing your furry-shiki I'd want photos.

Also, yeah - apparently the factory that made the small sized violet crumbles closed down or something a couple of months ago. They can still make the bars, but not the bite sized (or so Cherry was told).

Haven't been any bulk bags in teh stores for ages - it makes me cry. :(

THIS IS A DISASTER!!! WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN IN THE PAPERS AND PETITIONS CIRCULATED???!

I know! I believe that they're either refitting or relocating or something, but the result it simply unacceptable - I'm craving violet crumble.

I mistakenly bought what was meant to be a locally produced equivalent (the sample piece wasn't too bad) - and when I got home they were HORRIBLE!

*cries*

Oh darling! There is nothing worse than unexpectedly awful confectionery! (Aside from war, poverty and ebola, of course ...)

The expensive chocolate honeycomb in the deli that comes in a yellow paper bag from the same company that does the chilli 'bark' is very good, but three times the price.

You do realise all this is just determined distraction from the dismay of you leaving the country again?

I shall have to console myself with some chunks of belgian couverture instead. >.>

But apparently there is a new brand (I'm not sure if you'd classify it as generic) from Adelaide or somewhere that's been on the shelves in Woolies. I haven't tried it yet.

*clings and tries to crawl into your luggage*

Also, do those coats come with the hunky male models?

The problem is that unexpectedly awful confectionary leads to war, poverty and ebola! What do you think provoked the Australian/Russian war of 1962?

Oh, I know! I was looking to send some to NaNo buddies in the US and couldn't find any (only bars, and that won't do for sharing, really).

I bought 16 bars at Coles. It may not be enough ...

I blame the Coalition! (Either of them, I've ceased to care.)

I bought a bag of Violet Crumble only a few weeks ago... and then realised I liked Crunchies a lot better. *sigh*

Was your icon supposed to ensure that the only thought running through my head for the next hour is, "It's pronounced bouquet!"? 'cause that's what it's done. Damn you.

Yup! XD That's the exact intention of my icon. ;) I even have a pretty Keeping Up Appearances banner on my userinfo page!

There are still the bars, but not the lumpy ones. I am going to try the small corner shops in the morning before I fly out.

WOE! :-(

No bags of Violet Crumble? WHAT FRESH INSANITY IS THIS?!

Damnit, I'd lost track of time and didn't realise how soon you were off. I will leave off posting EF Benson's Lucia Victrix until you make good your return, my dear!

♥ Bell'avventura, cara! ♥

Mille grazie, tesoro!

I have the latest Jilly Cooper, as it is a massive read and I can leave it behind with no guilt ;-)

AND I KNOW!!! There are rumours the factory has shut down (see above) -- THE HORROR!!!

From: [identity profile] treacle-tartlet.livejournal.com
AHAHAHAH! Excellent - Jilly can keep you company and you can come home to dear EF ;)

I think I will mosey out to the shops in the morning and see if we still have a few bags in this god-forsaken hell-hole.

Also, SQUISH HAS TWO TEETH! TWO!

I will take pics, but Blondie has not yet set up the computer that will allow me to post them online. She seems very willing to show them off, as she is now experimenting with some new noises (mostly this involves opening her mouth wide and shouting/hooting/yodelling at the top of her tiny-but-powerful lungs...)

I can do one of those, I just need to make certain that I both work on the train there and back, and make some progress on the weekend, too. At the moment I don't have any reason to prefer one over the other, can we decide as it gets closer? If I wind up needing to do something in the lab with my boss that week which day would depend on his schedule...

No!!!!! Not the Crumble!

Perhaps it's only closed temporarily? Which, yes, doesn't help the people on your journey, but still allows for hope in the world...

Bon voyage!
